Athlete é uma banda de Indie Rock, formada em Deptford, Londres.
É formada por Joel Pott (Voz e Guitarra), Carey Willets (Baixo e Backing Vocal), Stephen Roberts (Bateria e Backing Vocal) e Tim Wanstall (Teclado e Backing Vocal).
atualmente o quarteto recrutou Jonny Pilcher, da banda "Weevil" como guitarrista de apoio à shows.
Amigos desde os 14 anos de idade, Athlete cita como influências bandas como Grandaddy e The Flaming Lips.
Começaram a tocar por diversão e prática em um Pub chamado "The Basement Of The Bear", que mais tarde viria a se tornar uma igreja e um restaurante.
Começaram gravando demos la, antes de enviarem para gravadoras.
