Hum é uma banda de Rock Alternativo/Space Rock, formada em Champaign, Illinois (EUA). Sua formação inicial, formada em 1989 consistia em Andy Switzky (Guitarra), Matt Talbott (Guitarra e Voz), Akis Boyatzis (Baixo) e Jeff Kropp (Bateria). Matt e Andy se conheceram em uma caféteria chamada Treno's (localizada em Urbana, Illinois), onde Andy trabalhava.
Conversaram sobre música e decidiram então formar a base do Hum. Matt hávia tocado em uma banda local chamada "We Ate Plato" e naquela epóca também tocou no "Honcho Overload". Andy era membro de uma banda de finais de semana chamada "Obvious Man".
A Formação que obteve exito no Mainstream consistia em Matt Talbott (Guitarra e Voz), Tim Lash (Guitarra), Jeff Dimpsey (Baixo) e Bryan St. Pere (Bateria). Encerraram suas atividades no ano de 2000.
